We had Colby attend our property due to faulty power points in our kitchen and inspection of power circuits in our new property in Lake Macquarie. He was amazing in direct support and reassurance from our initial call on a Saturday afternoon, as we had concerns of potenital fire hazard due to a powerpoint having blue/green substance coming out of it. Switchboard upgrades

Your switchboard protects everything else in the house. If it's old, it's the first thing worth fixing, and it's one of Colby's specialties.

Signs it's time for an upgrade:

  • Old ceramic fuses instead of circuit breakers
  • No safety switches (RCDs)
  • Power keeps tripping or lights flicker
  • You're adding solar, a battery, an EV charger or a big renovation

Dark Spark Electrical Solutions is an Aboriginal-owned business run by Colby, a licensed electrician with more than 10 years on the tools. From our base in Stockton, we look after homes and businesses across Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and Port Stephens.

Common questions

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Dark Spark is fully licensed and insured, and Colby is a Level 2 Accredited Service Provider. Contractor licence 469530C, electrical licence 401629C.

What is Level 2 work?

Level 2 electricians can work on the connection between your property and the electricity network, including service mains, overhead and underground connections, and metering. That means one electrician can handle jobs that would otherwise need two.

Do you do both residential and commercial work?

Yes. We work on homes, renovations and new builds, as well as shops, offices and other commercial sites.

Are quotes free?

Quotes for smaller jobs are free. Bigger jobs can take a full day to measure up and price properly, so there may be a quoting fee. Colby will tell you before he comes out, and either way you'll have a clear price before any work starts.

How do I know if my switchboard needs upgrading?

Common signs are old ceramic fuses, no safety switches, power that keeps tripping, or plans to add solar, a battery or an EV charger. If you're not sure, send a photo of your switchboard with your quote request details or call Colby and he'll take a look.

How soon can you come out?

It depends on the job and the week. Call Colby on 0423 396 164 and he'll let you know the earliest time he can get to you.

What areas do you cover?
